Why Whales Matter

na img hump intro Why Whales MatterWhales are amongst the most intelligent marine mammals on earth. The blue whale is the largest animal to ever before exist. In spite of this history, industrial whaling has left the whale species very endangered. Luckily, whaling has been ended in lots of nations, however still exists in some. The influence of this continued whaling endangers the existence of the animals, and if not stopped, may wipe out whales.

One country in specific that has actually been engaging in this inhumane and immoral activity against nature is Japan. Large whale fishing vessels have been dispatched around the oceans of Japan, primarily in the western Pacific Ocean, to hunt down innocent whales and harvest their meat and other parts to be utilized for oil, fertilizer, perfume, shampoo, cleansing soap, gelatin, margarine and other products. Regardless of the usages it can bring, these living creatures really should not have to pay their lives simply for this senseless function.

Sea Shepherd is an organization that says Japan is in violation of the IWC rules on all commercial whaling. They point out that the Oriental public does not support commercial whale hunting, however all the major political parties do. Whale meat supposedly caught for “investigation functions” ends up in the widely recognized Tsukiji fish market, Sea Shepherd points out. They examine this embezzlement of whale meat on a regular basis and try to eliminate whaling in the high oceans as it is occurring.

Marine Shepherd has boats and crews and go out to intervene during whale hunts. This is a dangerous and life-threatening undertaking for Marine Shepherd’s crews, however they continue to go to save the whales from slaughter. As recently as 2010, 3 Ocean Shepherd ships intervened
against unlawful whaling tasks and one boat was purposely rammed and sunk by the Oriental. When the captain attempted to serve an invoice upon the Japanese for his sunken boat, he was taken to a Eastern prison. The Sea Shepherd’s continuing to be companies were not deterred and followed the Oriental fleets for 3 weeks, and not one single whale was killed during that time.

If you are one of the millions of folks who wish to contribute in ending this unlawful task, you can pay a visit to Sea Shepherd – www.seashepherd.org to study more about how you can easily get include and help the business in stopping Oriental whale angling.

  1. Has your town ever been plagued by low flying, migrating midget humpback whales? If so, what was it like?

  2. You like to ask these types of things.

  3. That’s the only thing that ever happens in our town. We now embrace it, holding the Low Flying Migrating Midget Humpback Whale Plague Festival every February 29th on leap years. Then they destroy the town and we all die. Then, in their pity, the bring us back to life and then we rebuild the town

I remember it was a very dark time…and noisy too. But it was so long ago most don’t recall it. Besides, the carnivorous monkeys with top hats and banjos wearing shiny red vests who invaded shortly after get credit for actually destroying the town..

Humpback whales live in several different climates. During the winter (depending on which hemisphere), Humpbacks will migrate to a tropical climate to mate and give birth to their young. Since the food source for Humpbacks does not grow well in a tropical climate, Humpbacks will return to cold waters to feed during the summer months (and after the babies are strong enough to make the journey to these cold waters, which can be thousands of miles away). Some of the tropical places where Humpbacks are common include: Australia, American Samoa, Mexico, The Philippeans, and The Hawaiian Islands. Some of the colder places Humpbacks are common include: The Bering Sea, Southeast Alaska, British Columbia, and anywhere near Antarctica. So the Humback lives in two very different climates for equal parts of the year: tropical and arctic (or antarctic). Hope this helps. Good luck on your report!
